(romanized: Shkola), or School, is a Russian TV series that asks the question: "What exactly is going on in the Russian school?" It aired on Russia's Channel One from January 11 to May 27, 2010, with a 2-week break during the Vancouver Olympics. It has 69 episodes and was directed by Valeriya Gai Germanika¹.
Premise: 9 "A" was an exemplary class, while their class teacher was Nosov Anatoly Germanovich - a strong and experienced teacher, recognized in 2009 as the Teacher of the Year. After his sudden illness, 9 "A" is left without a strong hand. The myth of the exemplary class is crumbling, discipline is cracking at the seams. Nosov's granddaughter, Anya Nosova, is perhaps the most difficult teenager of the school. A new student Ilya Epifanov provokes situations in which students manifest themselves from unexpected sides, turning upside down the usual idea of them as classmates and teachers. None of the teachers want to take on the class, which of the model has become the most difficult.
Valeriya Gai Germanika describes Shkola like this:
"Shkola — it is the series about the whole world, about children, parents, teachers, maturing, and loneliness. It is about the closed world that others can't access. It is about the impossibility to speak with other people."
Actress Elena Papanova describes Shkola as "a work about school as it is now — without the embellishments; with its pros and cons. There are no embellishments in this series."

EPISODE 42: 4/8/2026
This episode was...something. In the end, I felt bad for Nosova. Her grandparents got her the clothes she wanted after all. I read one of the comments on YouTube about this episode..."This is where the turning point in Nosova's life begins. It doesn't seem all that unusual; I even missed it the first time I watched it, but from the vantage point of the remaining episodes, it's clear that it was after Arseny Ivanovich and her best friends turned their backs on her and the ambiguous scene with her grandparents that something changed inside Anya. This is what will lead us to the finale." Honestly, I knew something was different about this episode, and I felt more bad for Nosova. Episode 42 really IS the turning point. I can't wait to watch Episode 43!! I could watch it now, but it's past midnight (12:12 AM). I think it's better if I go to sleep.... -_-
On second thought, I'm on SPRING BREAK!!! I'll watch the remaining episodes with English sub on Telegram
I genuinely feel bad for Nosova, even though she is rude to her grandparents. Her new best friends, the people she thought understood her the most, are backstabbing her; Misha's past behavior is overlooked and in the past now (what if he stalks Anya more?); she has a weird relationship with her chemistry teacher; and for 2 years she was forcibly homeschooled by her grandparents, only for her to have her reputation ruined and to not want to go to school. The final scene where she cries....maybe she cries because she realizes her grandparents love her idk. I wonder what will happen in the next episode.
